| PROJECT DESCRIPTION | COOL-APA promotes adapted physical activity (APA) through inclusive learning modules and improved access to physical activity for people with special needs. The project is implemented by higher education institutions from Finland, Ukraine, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Ireland.
Objectives The main objective of the project is to raise awareness of APA among students in sports, rehabilitation, education, social work, and health care. Additionally, the project aims to expand opportunities for individuals with special needs to participate in both guided and independent physical activities and sports. Furthermore, it seeks to enhance access to online courses for students with special needs by improving teachers’ competencies in developing inclusive and accessible digital and pedagogical solutions. Results The COOL-APA modules offer six 5-credit online and onsite modules for higher education students. On completion of 30 credits, students receive a European-endorsed APA certificate. The modules, annually delivered with six partners, targets students in the fields of sports, rehabilitation, special and primary school education, social work and health care, which improves opportunities for marginalised groups. Teachers’ competence in creating inclusive online digital and pedagogical solutions grows. |
