Lithuania is a relatively inexpensive country to live in. However, the cost of living depends very much on such factors as personal habits and lifestyle.

1. Rent

  • Dormitory: €120–140/month

  • Private 1‑bedroom flat: €300–450/month in city outskirts

2. Utilities & Internet

  • Usually included in dorm fees

  • In private flats: average €160–200/month (utilities ~€195 + internet €14)

3. Food

  • Groceries + occasional meals out: €180–220/month

    • Market staples: bread €1.39/kg, milk €4.95/L, chicken €2.96/kg, etc.

  • University “Ąžuolynas” bistro: soup €2; mains from €5.50

4. Transport

  • Student monthly pass: €5.60 (Kaunas students)

  • Standard one-way ticket ~€0.90

5. Clothing, Leisure, Miscellaneous

  • Many museums offer 50% student discounts, when presenting a valid student/ISIC card

  • Gym, leisure: €30–60/month

  • Cinema: ~€7

The discounts from 10% to 50% for a wide range of leisure activities are offered for International Students Identity Card (ISIC) holders.
