PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The aim of the proposed project is to present interdisciplinary empirical research findings to facilitate the advancement of evidence-based practice in physical education (PE) by means of a reliable and valid diagnosis and an expert-based support concept for promoting physical activities as well as their broad dissemination in the partner countries and abroad. The diagnostic tool of the MOBAK-instrument is a core indicator of quality of output in PE. The newly developed MOBAK-instrument is a scientific diagnostic tool which is broadly accepted by researchers in the field of sport pedagogy and PE. This broad acceptance is demonstrated by the approval of 13 partners in the field of PE teacher education and policy of sport, exercise, and physical activity.

The project brings together stakeholders from primary-level teacher education, PE, youth sport, and advocacy in physical activity promotion. This project has the potential to strengthen networks between institutions in Europe and organizations which are responsible for PE and PE teachers. This will create an innovative climate for influencing how sport and physical activity initiatives can be delivered in schools across Europe.

The overarching aim of the project is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle in children and to foster health enhancing physical activity.

MAIN PROJECT RESULTS

Specific intellectual outputs:
1. Scientific information and feedback on the status und distribution of basic motor competencies in children in the specific partner countries. All project partners will collect data to provide a cross-cultural comparison of differences and similarities.
2. Development of a toolkit to promote and support basic motor competencies. On the basis of the assessments, all partners will work together to create a modularized concept which can be adapted to specific groups or individuals to provide tailored interventions to children.
3. Dissemination of the support concept within the EU. All project results will be published and made accessible to teacher associations, universities and colleges, teachers, the scientific community, and important stakeholders in the field of education and health promotion.
