The World Health Organization got interested in a project carried out jointly by LSU and partners

A project "Physical Activity Promotion among Kaunas Region Communities Using Information Technology" carried out jointly by Lithuanian Sports University (LSU), Kaunas Region Public Health Office, Kaunas Region Young Leaders Society and Lithuanian Social Democratic Youth Union, branch of Kaunas region, became of interest to the World Health Organization (WHO). In February, the representative of the WHO Chief Coordinator Francesco Zambon attended the meeting at LSU where project activities were discussed. Later on, the information about the project was published on the official website of the WHO.

A special programme – distance learning sessions – has been developed to promote physical activity among Kaunas region communities. Lithuanian Sports University broadcast on-line sessions once a week. The residents of Kaunas district neighbourhoods watched physical activity sessions and performed physical activity at their own viewing sites (community rooms, schools, etc.). 350 Kaunas region community members got involved in the project.
