Olympic champion‘s physical fitness tested at the University

Twice an Olympic champion, twice world champion in discus throw Virgilijus Alekna started preparing for the new season. Traditionally, the athlete tested his physical fitness in Lithuanian Sports University (LSU). The scientists are able to test athletes of excellence due to the unique equipment the University possesses.

„The season has just come to an end and after a short break I am starting to prepare for new challenges. It is vital to test physical fitness  so that I could compare it to the previous year and decide what to focus on. I am doing my best to prepare for the new season and achieve high results, "- said V. Alenka.

Physical fitness of Virgilijus Alekna has been tested in the University for the last few years. Isokinetic dynamometer is used for testing athlete‘s muscle system. „V. Alekna very seriously prepares for every season, and we can carry out the research the results of which are important for further processes of workload and trainings. The research carried out by our scientists shows the changes in muscle power indicators as well as athlete‘s strengths and weaknesses. We can already see what the athlete should focus on, "- said LSU Vice-Rector for sports Prof. Dr. Aleksas Stanislovaitis.

After physical fitness tests, Virgilijus Alekna met with students from Zagreb University (Croatia) studying at LSU.
