NBA Vice-President granted a title of LSU Honorary Doctor

The Senate of Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) has granted a title of LSU Honorary Doctor to the NBA Vice-President Jesus Bueno Pascual. According to LSU Chancellor Dr. Mindaugas Balčiūnas, J. B. Pascual has made a great contribution to the University and the country. He is helping to strengthen ties with the NBA, promote the university’s internationality and Lithuanian basketball. “Jesus Bueno Pascual has made special contribution to the promotion of internationality of Lithuanian Sports University and has not only delivered lectures and participated in seminars at the university, but also thanks to him, LSU students have a unique opportunity to do internships at the NBA Europe office and get acquainted with the activities of one of the most modern global sports organizations. J. B. Pascual is helping to develop scientific research carried out by LSU students who investigate the NBA marketing. One of the best examples – the scientific research of LSU Master student Edgaras Abramavičius on the effectiveness of the NBA video game advertising carried out in consultation with the NBA specialists”,- said LSU Chancellor Dr. Mindaugas Balčiūnas.

An important step towards the development of LSU internationality has been made recently – collaboration with the world's largest basketball and one of the world's largest sports organizations – the North American National Basketball Association (NBA) has been launched. Through this partnership, J. B. Pascual visited LSU twice, delivered lectures to students, organized workshops on sports marketing, basketball development and other topics. J. B. Pascual helped six LSU students to go on internship to the NBA Europe office in 2013; the delegates of LSU are visiting the organization in the nearest future, and in the autumn LSU together with the NBA Europe are going to organize an international seminar on sports management in Lithuania. Cooperation with the NBA is a valuable experience for LSU students, broadens the prospects for research and enhances the prestige of the university in Lithuania and abroad.
