Master student had a chance to gain experience at an NBA match

Edgaras Abromavičius, a Master student in Tourism and Sports Management, had the opportunity to watch NBA regular season match between Milwaukee “Bucks” and New-York “Knicks” in London thanks to LSU Honorary Doctor and NBA Vice-President Jesus Bueno Pascual.  This was not the first NBA game held outside the US – such basketball events have already taken place in Brazil and China this year.

“I had a chance to observe the entire NBA backstage: from the subtleties of TV broadcast to show organization. I also had the opportunity to meet with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Philip Jackson, the legendary coach, who became the champion of NBA 11 times. Basketball legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon and Dikembe Mutombo were honoured during the event. Thanks to NBA Vice-President Jesus Bueno Pascual, I was able to watch the match in one of the best O2 arena seats. During the stay, I gained a lot of unforgettable experience and priceless aid for research, which will start soon. I am going to investigate the marketing of the NBA League and analyse advertising means and strategies used by it”, said E. Abromavičius.

In 2013, LSU students went on internship to North American National Basketball Association (NBA) Headquarters in London. The students carried out a joint project with the representatives of the Headquarters on NBA video games.
