LSU Professor paid a visit to Harvard University

In October, one of the world's top universities – Harvard University (Boston, USA) – held the 2nd Forum on Population Health Equity. The Professor of LSU Department of Health, Physical and Social Education Dr. Arūnas Emeljanovas also got an invitation to attend the Forum from the Head of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences (Faculty of Public Health, Harvard University) Prof. Dr. Ichiro Kawachi.

During the visit, A. Emeljanovas participated in special courses related to physical activity and health, cardiovascular disease prevention, neighbourhood and health.

“In addition to the Forum and the courses, it was very interesting to visit the Harvard campus and other faculties, attend lectures, talk with lecturers and students. I was impressed by the diligence of lecturers, their dedication to work, outstanding students' interest in the studies chosen and, of course, academic culture, respect and tolerance”, said A. Emeljanovas.

According A. Emeljanovas, the potential cooperation between LSU and Harvard University was discussed during the visit. “Our cooperation with Professor Ichiro Kawachi has not been long, but we have already engaged in an international research coordinated by him. One of his research interests is students' social capital and their relationships with physical activity and health. This area has not been analysed in Lithuania at all, and there are few scientists in the world who are interested in this topic, so I very much hope for further cooperation with colleagues from one of the best universities in the world”, said A. Emeljanovas.
