LSU hosted the annual meeting of the Council of Baltic Society of Sport Sciences

Last week Lithuanian Sports University hosted the annual meeting of the Council of Baltic Society of Sport Sciences. The representatives of the University of Tartu, Latvian Academy of Sports Education, Lithuanian Sports University and Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences took part in the meeting.

The activities of the Society, accomplishments of the past year and future plans were discussed at the Council members' meeting. Important issues related to the admission of new universities to the Society were put forward during the meeting. According to the President of the Society Juris Grants, several Polish universities have already applied to become the members of the Society. In April, the Statute of the organization is planned to be revised during the Conference of Baltic Society of Sport Sciences; this would define the votes of the members on important internal issues.

The aim of the Society is to promote sport science development in the Baltic countries, improve the quality of doctoral studies, organize sport science events and cooperate with foreign organizations in the field of sport science. Every year the Society organizes an international sport science conference, the main organizer of which is LSU this year. The most prominent sport science specialists from Lithuania and foreign countries will deliver their plenary presentations in the 9th Conference of Baltic Society of Sport Sciences “Current Issues and New Ideas in Sport Science”, which will be organized in Kaunas in April.
