LSU Declaration of Academic Honesty signed; series of meetings with students have begun

  The Declaration of Academic Honesty has been signed at Lithuanian Sports University. The President of LSU Student Representative Elvinas Staškus signed the Declaration. The event was attended by the Vice-Rector for Studies Prof. Dr. Rasa Jankauskienė, the Deans of the faculties Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arūnas Emeljanovas and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nerijus Masiulis, the Head of the Centre of Academic Quality Supervision Asta Terentjevienė, the Chairman of LSU Academic and Professional Ethics Commission lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr.  Saulė Sipavičienė, group monitors and students.

  “I am very glad that the Declaration of Academic Honesty has been signed today. Be an example for each other, do not tolerate dishonest behaviour. It is our shared commitment to the quality of studies”, addressed the students Vice-Rector for Studies Prof. Dr. R. Jankauskienė.

  This event is an introduction to a cycle of events intended to better inform students about the importance of academic honesty, academic quality assurance system, student rights and responsibilities as well as opportunities for students to participate in the University management. The cycle is organized by the administration of the University studies.

  During the first meeting, the Chairman of LSU Academic and Professional Ethics Commission Assoc. Prof. Dr.  Saulė Sipavičienė introduced the concept of academic ethics and academic honesty, The President of LSU Student Representative Elvinas Staškus presented a report “Is it Easy to Be a Group Monitor?”, and LSU Vice-Rector for Studies Prof. Dr. R. Jankauskienė stressed the importance of student active participation in the process of academic quality assurance. A discussion on the topic of academic honesty took place.
