LSU athletes have won gold and bronze medals at the Universiade

Lithuanian Sports University student Liveta Jasiūnaitė threw a personal best throw of 60 m 36 cm and became the champion in javelin throw. L. Jasiūnaitė is delighted to now have medals of all colours in her collection.

Master’s degree student in Sports Coaching Adrijus Glebauskas won a bronze medal with the high jump of 2 m 24 cm.

The most important student sporting event – the 30th Summer Universiade in Naples (Italy) hosting about 9,300 participants from 128 countries, including 41 Lithuanian athletes, finishes on July 17th.

Lithuanian students have been participating in the Universiades since 1993, when ice dancers Margarita Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas won the first medals. In total, Lithuanian students have brought home 54 medals (22 gold, 12 silver and 20 bronze) from 14 Universiades.  More than 950 Lithuanian students have already participated in the Universiades.
