International project “Analysis of Physical Activity Needs of Students and Health Promotion Opportunities at Universities” has started

The researchers of the Faculty of Sport Education, LSU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irena Valantinė, Dr. Vida Janina Česnaitienė, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arūnas Emeljanovas and Laura Tumynaitė, a Physical Education student of the second cycle of studies, have received funding under the call of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES)  “Support for Incentive Events to Promote Youth Civic, Scientific, Creative and Sports Activities”. LSU will carry out a scientific project “Analysis of Physical Activity Needs of Students and Health Promotion Opportunities at Universities” together with partners from Sweden, Belgium, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia as well as some Lithuanian universities (Aleksandras Stulginskis University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and Vilnius University).

The first meeting-international seminar took place at Lithuanian Sports University. Project partners from abroad Prof. Dr. Marc Cloes (University of Liege, Belgium), Prof. Dr. Peter Sitar (University of Maribor, Slovenia), Dr. Sofia Brorrson (Dalarna University, Sweden), Dr. Zbigniew Ossovsky (Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport, Poland) and Lovro Stefan (University of Zagreb, Croatia) presented their institutions and health promotion opportunities there. Assoc. Prof. Dr. A. Emeljanovas discussed health promotion opportunities at Lithuanian universities, Dr. Vida Janina Česnaitienė delivered a report “Analysis of Physical Activity Needs of Students”. The participants got acquainted with LSU, worked in groups, discussed and made recommendations for further implementation of the project.
