Mr David Hunt, HM Ambassador to Lithuania visited  Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education.  The UK ambassador presented preparation for 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, got acquainted with academic and research achievements at LAPE  and met Lithuanian athletes who had won the pass to 2012 London Olympic Games.

‘‘I was glad to receive the invitation to visit Lithuanian  Academy of Physical Education. Your   institution is closely connected with sports. The University of Worcester (UK) in partnership with the Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education (LAPE) have launched the European Masters  in Basketball Coaching study programme. In the future  students‘ exchange programmes should be promoted  more actively . Academic youth in  the UK must know more about Lithuania and the Academy.

Not only  achievements in sports surprised us but also a very special attention to science, high achievements in research and possibilities to perform  research“, said David Hunt.

The UK ambassador told about the  preparation for 2012 London Olympics. “ Our country is ready to meet athletes  from around the world. It is nice to meet participants of the Olympic Games from Lithuania. We expect that 2012 London Olympics will be the most successful games“, said the ambassador.

Olympic vice-champion, LAPE graduate in sports coaching Austra Skujytė told about her preparation for the Olympic Games.“World champion from  the UK Jessica Ennis will be my opponent. I hope that it will be an intriguing competition“, said  A.Skujytė.

Dean of  Faculty of Sports Biomedicine  Dr. Nerijus Masiulis presented the European Master‘s  in Basketball Coaching  programme. According to Dr. N. Masiulis, more and more students are getting interested in this programme and the cooperation with universities in the UK will expand.
