Possibilities of cooperation with the University of Ljubljana discussed
At the end of September, the Director of the study programme Sports Industries (SIN) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irena Valantinė and the Head of the Office of Personnel and Law Inga Staškevičiūtė-Butienė visited the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). During the visit, the representatives of LSU presented our university to the University Rector Prof. Dr. Ivan Svetlik, Vice-Rector Prof. Matej Zupan and MSc Head of Office for European Projects Staška Mrak Jamnik, who is responsible for Human Resource Management for Researchers. They discussed cooperation in creation of international joint Master degree and Doctoral programmes in Sports Management and possibilities of participation in international joint scientific projects.
I. Valantinė and I. Staškevičiūtė-Butienė also visited Ljubljana University incubator where they met with the project manager Matej Stevanovič and a start-up coordinator Simon Meglič. During the meeting, the guests were introduced to successful incubator activity, the start-ups and their activity. Moreover, best practices were shared and a proposal to cooperate in the development and implementation of international projects related to start-up activity and innovation was made.
On the initiative of Prof. Dr. Jurak Gregor, LSU teachers visited the Faculty of Sport, its laboratories and innovative sports bases and were introduced to other activities, carried out at the Faculty.
The University of Ljubljana is the oldest and the biggest institution of education and research in Slovenia. Established in 1919, the University comprises 23 faculties and 3 academies, educating over 40,000 students and employing about 5,600 teachers, researchers and administrative staff. According to the international ranking of universities "2015/16 QS World University Rankings", this institution of higher education is among the 501-550 best universities in the world.
