Representatives of the University participate in an international research project

 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irena Valantinė and Dr. Inga Staškevičiūtė-Butienė, lecturers at the Department of Sport Management, Economics and Sociology, LSU, became involved in the activities of the project “Athletes Learning Entrepreneurship – a New Type of Dual Career Approach / AtLETyC  (2015-3343/001-001)” of Erasmus+ sports programme “Collaborative Partnerships and Not-for-Profit European Sport Events”.

  The project is coordinated by the Austrian University of Applied Sciences. LSU participates as a partner together with the representatives from the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Hungarian University of Physical Education (Hungary), Lithuanian Union of Sports Federations, Hungarian Sport Management Association (Hungary), Slovenian University Sports Association (Slovenia), the University of Turin (Italy), Italian Association of Culture, Sport and Leisure Time (Italy), the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Sarajevo Olympic Committee (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

  The aim of the project is to create entrepreneurship-training programme for elite athletes in order to maximize their learning opportunities and to promote a dual career. The project aims to implement the EU Guidelines on Dual Careers of Athletes: to facilitate the transition from sports career into the labour market applying more flexible teaching methods that meet the needs of athletes, and develop the cooperation among different sporting organizations.

  “This project is based on the concept of "blended teaching". An entrepreneurship-training programme for elite athletes, based on MOOC platform (Massive Open Online Course) will be developed”, said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irena Valantinė.

   The project is partially (by 80 per cent) funded by the European Union. The total budget of the project is 612,918 EUR, LSU share amounting at 38,349 EUR. The project will last for 30 months.
