Worcester’s Unique European Basketball Masters Degree to Run for Fifth Consecutive Year
The University of Worcester has revealed the dates for this year’s student intake for its ground-breaking postgraduate course in European Basketball Coaching Science.
The unique and innovative two-year-long course, endorsed by the Federation for International Basketball in Europe (FIBA Europe), is delivered by the University in partnership with the Lithuanian Sports University, Kaunas, Lithuania and the Lithuanian Basketball Federation.
The 2014 intake will begin their course on July 28th in Kaunas, Lithuania. In the first week, students will take part in the Intensive Teaching Block programme, consisting of a variety of on-court sessions and guest speakers’ presentations from top European coaches and basketball experts.
The course includes a wide range of classroom activities, such as lectures, seminars and workshops, as well as attendance at various games and events. Additionally, all postgraduate students enrolled on the programme attend the annual highly regarded International Coaching Clinic, organised by the Lithuanian Coaches Association.
In the previous years, this innovative degree has attracted international interest from basketball enthusiasts, coaches and players from across the world.
Current students include Alan Keane, Head Coach of the England Under 16 national team; Dainius Adomaitis, Assistant Coach of Lietuvos Rytas; and Osvaldas Kurauskas, Klaipeda Neptunas Manager, all of whom have enjoyed great success while coaching and studying for the postgraduate degree.
The course’s list of graduates includes top European players such as Lithuanian international duo Robertas Javtokas and Linas Kleiza, as well as coaches from England, Belgium, France, Canada and Liberia.
Places are still available at the University of Worcester for this year’s intake on the programme. Interested applicants should apply by 3pm on Thursday, 10th July 2014.
