Participants from five foreign countries arrived at LSU for an intensive international course

At the end of March, an intensive international course “Physical Activity for all Generations: Convergence of Three Sectors” under the Nordplus HZ project “Nordic–Baltic Physical Activity Bridges” (2014—10107) took place at LSU. 2 teaching staff members and 4 students from each of five foreign countries and LSU attended the course. The aim of the course is to develop the guidelines for physical activity promotion and an optional study module for students that would be applicable to kindergartens, schools and communities.

7 groups of students guided by their teachers met with the representatives of different age groups (kindergarteners, primary school pupils, secondary school students, young parents and their children, students, school teachers and seniors), held discussions, did physical exercises and made presentations. The participants attended theoretical and practical lectures and enjoyed an interesting social programme: dinner offering traditional Lithuanian dishes, orienteering game in the centre of Kaunas, Lithuanian folklore social with LSU folk dance ensemble "Rasa", and a sports competition.

During the intensive course, LSU hosted a partner meeting for Nordplus HZ NBPAB project. Partners discussed the last phase of the project, which involves dissemination, development of guidelines and formation of the final product of the project. It was decided to organize the final partner meeting at the University of Tartu (Estonia) in June and summarize the work carried out during three years of the project.

The intensive course was attended by the delegates of the University College of Southeast Norway, University of Jyväskylä (Finland), University of Iceland, Latvian Academy of Sport Education, University of Tartu (Estonia), Kaunas J. and P. Vileišiai School-Multifunctional Centre, Lithuanian Association of Physical Education Teachers, Kulautuva Community Centre, Kaunas Community Centre and Lithuanian Sports University.
