LSU students will be trained following the methodology developed by the legendary Lithuanian footballer

Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) has acquired the modern coach training methodology “Auri – Dohm” developed by the long-term captain of the Lithuanian national football team Aurelijus Skarbalius. From now on, LSU football students will be able to rely on the training system for children and youth developed in Denmark and adapted to Lithuanian football. A. Skarbalius, who played in Denmark for many years and now works as a coach, developed the “Auri – Dohm” methodology together with the famous Danish specialist Carsten Dohm.

“Lithuanian Sports University implements the latest technologies and methodologies and goes hand in hand with the most advanced sports universities in Western Europe. We all know perfectly well that football is extremely popular in Europe, and in Lithuania it is not at the best of times. Therefore, it is very important to train future coaches in Lithuania according to modern programs created in the countries where football is extremely popular. We strive for football specialization students to be fully prepared to start a coaching career in children’s and youth academies and professional clubs,” said LSU Rector Prof. Dr. Diana Rėklaitienė.

LSU has been taking a growing interest in football and cooperating with the Lithuanian Football Federation for several years. The graduates of LSU have the possibility to be awarded UEFA “B” and “C” licenses. This year, LSU sports scientists have won the UEFA competition and will cooperate not only with Lithuanian teams, but also with one of the most famous football clubs in the world, “Barcelona”. In July, a cooperation agreement was signed with “Kaunas Žalgiris” Football Academy.

“Together with Lithuanian Sports University, we hope to help future Lithuanian football coaches to become modern football specialists who are able to apply the acquired knowledge in educating young Lithuanian football players. We have been cooperating with LSU for four years now, giving students and teachers free access to the “Stats4sport” Competitive Activity Analysis and Training Process Management program, and we are very pleased that our collaboration is now taking it to the next level. We believe that this is an exceptional event in the history of Lithuanian football,” said A. Skarbalius, the coach of the Danish HB “Koge”.

“Auri-Dohm” methodology consists of several parts. The theoretical material describes all the training topics for each age group with detailed instructions, learning stages, main emphases, pedagogical guidelines and help for coaches. Particular attention is paid to the distribution of age groups and training periods. The program stipulates that 5-6-year-olds belong to the youngest group, and the oldest age group consists of 16-17-year-old football players. The developed methodology indicates the importance of future elite footballers’ technical, tactical, psychological and physical training at different ages.
