Kaunas hosted a meeting of an international project “SportGO”

On 18—19 May, Lithuanian Sports University hosted the third meeting of the project “How to Lead a Club to a Successful Future / SportGO” under “Erasmus+” sport programme “Collaborative Partnerships and Not-for-Profit European Sport Events”. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irena Valantinė and Dr. Inga Staškevičiūtė-Butienė, lecturers of LSU Department of Sport Management, Economics and Sociology, organized the event.

  The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the developed modules and the material of non-formal education in order to ensure the compliance of the training material with the target market and prepare for the training in autumn. Also, all project partners shared their experience on project implementation, dissemination and publicity and provided reports on the implemented activities. LSU representatives provided each partner with the guidelines of the training material “Being a Successful Semi-Professional Sports Manager”.

  The last meeting of the project partners will be held in Hungary in February 2017.

  This project is coordinated by the Austrian University of Applied Sciences, and LSU participates as a partner along with the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), the University of West Hungary (Hungary), Lithuanian Union of Sports Federations (Lithuania), Styrian Volleyball Association (Austria), the Olympic Committee of Slovenia (Slovenia), the University of Alicante (Spain), the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the Olympic Committee of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and other partners.

  The project aims to implement cost-effective management of sports clubs and to improve the existing structure, promote amateur sporting activities and increase training opportunities for the members of national and regional sports organizations, institutions and sports clubs. The project seeks to develop participation of the youth as well as promote information about management of sports clubs and exchange among higher education institutions, other training providers and sports clubs.
