Professor Diana Rėklaitienė, Rector of the Lithuanian Sports University (LSU), attended the opening ceremony of the new campus infrastructure complex of the Kazakhstan National University of Sport (KNUS). During the event, the two universities signed a cooperation agreement establishing a partnership in the fields of education, research, and sport.
The LSU Rector also participated in the university’s first graduation ceremony and the international scientific conference “NEW ERA OF SPORT: Education. Science. Innovation. Excellence.” During the conference session, “Athlete Training: From Scientific Research to Sports Achievements,” she shared her insights alongside fellow researchers and academics.
“Meetings like these demonstrate that science, sport, and international partnerships create new opportunities for joint research, student and staff mobility, and innovation. I believe this marks the beginning of a long-term and mutually beneficial collaboration,” said Professor Diana Rėklaitienė.
The Lithuanian Sports University established cooperation with the Kazakhstan National University of Sport in 2023, while student and academic staff mobility activities have been taking place since 2025.
The Kazakhstan National University of Sport was founded in 2021 in the country’s capital, Astana, as part of Kazakhstan’s national strategy for the development of sport and healthy lifestyles.
The University’s mission is to become a global centre of excellence in sport education, research, and innovation by combining academic studies with practical experience in sports organisations, clubs, and federations. It aims to educate highly qualified sports coaches, health and fitness instructors, sports industry managers, and sports medicine professionals.
