On October 10th, the partners of the KOKU Bladder project held a meeting. KOKU Bladder aims to develop and test an evidence based digital health solution to improve bladder health of adults aged 50 and over. A novel module embedded in the approved app “Keep-on-Keep-up” (KOKU) will be co-created with end-users, researchers, health professionals, and stakeholders through a participatory process. After a comprehensive literature review and consultation with experts, 6 workshops will be undertaken in Kaunas (Lithuania), Catalonia (Spain) and Manchester (UK) to co-create the contents of the new module.
The technological solution will include games, pelvic floor exercises, health education, behaviour change techniques and other resources. Finally, an experimental study with at least 120 individuals will be conducted to test the effectiveness of the solution to improve urinary incontinence. A mixed methods approach (quantitative/qualitative analysis) will be used to assess the feasibility and acceptability of the program.
The KOKU Bladder team has researchers from the Lithuanian Sports University, University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia and the University of Manchester: Javier Jerez-Roig (Principal Investigator), Óscar Águila, Emma Stanmore, Marius Brazaitis, Rima Solianik, Erika Karkauskiene and Laura Jarutienė. The project received funding from the Research Council of Lithuania (No. S-MIP-24-112) and AGAUR (Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca) through an Industry PhD.
