Famous athletes proud to be conferred degrees by Lithuanian Sports University

The traditional celebration of academic youth took place at Lithuanian Sports University (LSU), as bachelor’s and master’s degrees were solemnly awarded to the University graduates in the Assembly Hall.

This year, the celebration was different due to the emergency situation in the country and in order to prevent the possibility of the spread of the virus in the LSU premises. Diplomas were awarded to graduates over several parts, and graduates’ parents, friends, and all greeters were able to watch the ceremony live on screen at LSU Central Building.

The graduates of the university were greeted by the Rector Prof. Dr. Diana Rėklaitienė, and the Chairman of the Council Arūnas Kučikas. The video greeting to the young specialists was sent by the President of the National Olympic Committee of Lithuania Daina Gudzinevičiūtė. Kaunas City Deputy Mayor Andrius Palionis and famous University alumni, social partners Kaunas District Mayor Paulius Visockas, Secretary General of the Lithuanian Football Federation Edgaras Stankevičius, Secretary General of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation Mindaugas Špokas and member of the Society of Physiotherapists Rolandas Kesminas congratulated the graduates.

Vytautas Magnus University Symphony Orchestra created an exceptionally festive atmosphere.

According to the data provided by the LSU Studies Division, 352 students graduated from the University this summer. 232 students studied in the first cycle study programs and 120 students in the second cycle study programs. This year, 103 Sports Coaching, 82 Physiotherapy, 23 Physical Education and Sport, 12 Sports Recreation and Tourism, 9 Physical Activity and Public Health students were awarded bachelor’s degree. LSU Master’s diploma will be awarded to 120 students. The most popular master’s degree study programs were Physiotherapy (45 graduates), Sports Education (16), Physical Education (10), Sports Coaching (13), Basketball Coaching and Management (13 graduates). Master’s degrees were also awarded to graduates of Physical Education (10 graduates), Performance Analysis of Sports (8), Sports Physiology and Genetics (5), and Adapted Physical Activity (3) study programmes.

Famous athletes were also among those to be awarded a university degree this year. Basketball player Dalia Belickaitė was conferred a bachelor’s degree in Coaching Science, basketball players Lina Brazdeikytė, Darius Sirtautas, Dainius Šalenga successfully completed the master’s study program in English in Basketball Coaching and Management, and basketball players Darjušas Lavrinovičius and Kšištofas Lavrinovičius as well as wrestler Aleksandras Kazakevičius were conferred master’s degree in Sports Education.

Now LSU is looking forward to meeting new students. This year, the University is offering 7 undergraduate study programs: Coaching Science, Physical Education and Sport, Exercise, Nutrition and Stress Management, Physical Activity and Lifestyle, Physical Activity and Public Health, Sports and Tourism Management, Physiotherapy.

Admission to LSU master’s degree studies and bridge courses is also taking place. The University offers 10 graduate programs: Sports Education, Sports Coaching, Physiotherapy (in Kaunas and Druskininkai), Tourism and Sports Management, Physical Education, Sports Physiology and Genetics, Adapted Physical Activity, Physical Activity and Public Health, International Master in Performance Analysis of Sport (in English), International Basketball Coaching and Management (in English).
