The University organized a meeting for partners of an international project “AtLETyC”

On 19-22 September, Kaunas hosted the second meeting for the partners of a project “Athletes Learning Entrepreneurship – a New Type of Dual Career Approach / AtLETyC”  (2015-3343/001-001) under the “Erasmus+“ sport programme “Collaborative Partnerships and Not-for-profit European Sport Events”, organized by Acting Professor Dr. Irena Valantinė and Acting Associate Professor Dr. Inga Staškevičiūtė-Butienė, the lecturers of the Department of Sport Management, Economics and Sociology, Lithuanian Sports University. 

   The aim of the project is to develop an entrepreneurship training programme for elite athletes, based on MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platform. The project aims at increasing training opportunities for athletes and dual career promotion. During the project implementation, the EU guidelines on dual careers for athletes will be carried into effect, i.e. facilitation of the transition from careers in sport to the labour market by adapting more flexible teaching methods meeting the needs of athletes, and the development of cooperation of various sports organizations.

   The project “Athletes Learning Entrepreneurship – a New Type of Dual Career Approach / AtLETyC” under the “Erasmus+“ sport programme is coordinated by the University of Applied Sciences (Austria). Lithuanian Union of Sports Federations is participating as a partner together with the representatives of Lithuanian Sports University, the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Hungarian University of Physical Education (Hungary), Sports Management Association (Hungary), Slovenian University Sports Association (Slovenia), the University of Turin (Italy), Italian Culture and Sports Association (Italy), the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

   The project is partially (by 80 per cent) funded by the European Union. The total budget of the project amounts to 612,918 EUR, with the share of 38,349 EUR attributed to LSU. The duration of the project is 30 months.
