The 9th Baltic Sport Science Conference “Current Issues and New Ideas in Sport Science” came to an end

On 27th-29th April, Kaunas hosted the 9th Baltic Sport Science Conference “Current Issues and New Ideas in Sport Science”. Lithuanian Sports University organized the conference together with the National Olympic Committee of Lithuania and the Baltic Sport Science Society. The aim of the Conference was to disseminate the European and global Sports Science innovation and share the latest research results.

The Conference was attended by 230 participants and 182 oral and poster presentations were delivered. During the opening of the Conference, the Chairperson of the Conference Scientific Committee, LSU Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Arvydas Stasiulis expressed satisfaction that every time the Conference welcomes the scientists from a wider range of countries. This year the Conference was attended by speakers from Latvia, Estonia, Germany, the Great Britain, Spain, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Moldova, Israel, Lithuania and other countries.

During every Baltic Sport Science Conference the contest for young scientists takes place, where the research is presented in different sections. We are glad that the young scientists from our university always show good results and win awards in this contest. This year, a Master degree student Inga Garbašauskaitė was recognized as the best young scientist in the section of Coaching Science. A student of Latvian Academy of Sports Education K. Rodionova was the best in the sections of Physical Education and Health and Leisure Management. A representative of the University of Tartu T. Meerits won the award in the section of Exercise Biology and Kinesiology.

Baltic Sport Science Conferences have a long tradition. Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences organized the first conference in our country in 2009. The University of Tartu, Latvian Academy of Sports Education, Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences and Lithuanian Sports University organize Baltic Sport Science Conferences that welcome scientists from all over the world.

Next year, the 10th Baltic Sport Science Conference will be hosted in Riga (Latvia).
