Members of the Executive Board of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS) visited Lithuania

On 20 September, members of the Executive Board of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS) Prof. Marco Narici (United Kingdom), Prof. Joan Duda (United Kingdom), Tuulia Hokkanen (Germany) and Juliane Gonzalez (Germany) visited Vilnius. The aim of the visit was to tour and assess the place for the next ECSS Congress to be organized as well as the hotels and other venues for related events. The final decision on the choice of the two cities to organize the ECSS Congress will be announced at the end of January 2017.

“It would be a great honour for Lithuanian Sports University to host the ECSS Congress in Lithuania. We are pleased that our application has been selected and we had the opportunity to welcome the members of the ECSS Executive Board in Vilnius. We strive for Lithuania to be selected as the most suitable country and at the same time we want to demonstrate that Lithuanian Sports University not only has experience in organizing scientific events, but also has a potential to become a leader among the Baltic countries in the field of sports science”, said the Rector of LSU Dr. Aivaras Ratkevičius.

If the ECSS entrusts Lithuanian Sports University with the task of organizing the Congress, it will take place in Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO, the only venue in Lithuania meeting the requirements of the event. The initiative of the university is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, the National Olympic Committee of Lithuania, Department of Physical Education and Sports, the State Department of Tourism, Vilnius Tourist Information Office, Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, Lithuanian Union of Sports Federations and other organizations.
