LSU will develop sport science together with other European universities

The founding conference of the University Sport Science Organization took place at Istanbul University (Turkey). The Organization was created by five European higher education institutions: Istanbul University (Turkey), the University of Worcester (Great Britain), the University of León (Spain), the University of Las Palmas (Spain) and Lithuanian Sports University.

“In Istanbul, we made the first very important step – signed the Treaty establishing the Organization, the aim of which is to develop research and different projects in university sport science. The Organization enhances the possibility of exchanging scientific information, creating joint study programmes, promoting student and teacher exchange, and the development of commercial projects for the universities. Turkey has very good conditions to carry out these projects as not only general, but also sports and wellness tourism is developing rapidly there”, said LSU Chancellor Mindaugas Balčiūnas.

LSU will be able to organize joint commercial events, such as the World Basketball Congress, to be held in autumn 2015. Moreover, the University will have more possibilities to intensify the development and improvement of international Master degree study programme in European Basketball Coaching Science and Bachelor degree study programme in Physical Activity and Lifestyle.
