LSU researchers explored the possibilities of a human body

The researchers of Lithuanian Sports University and their colleagues from Lithuanian University of Health Sciences carried out a research on the impact of intense eccentric-concentric physical exercise (jumps from platform performed) on the adaptation of human muscles of lower limbs and connective tissue.

Using different methods, the researchers evaluated changes of quadriceps muscle strength and voluntary activation, the condition of knee and ankle joints, tendons and ligaments and their mechanical properties, the changes of motor biomechanics under fatigue and stress levels of the organism. Such studies help to better understand the possibilities of a human body and protect against excessive intervention during exercise. “The research results are relevant to kinesiology specialists, sports doctors, physiotherapists, physical education teachers, health educators and coaches of various sports”, said Prof. Dr. Sigitas Kamandulis, the Director of the Institute of Sport Science and Innovations.
