LSU and its partners will develop an international second cycle study programme Adapted Physical Activity

A project of a higher education programme “Nordplus” has been presented on the initiative of LSU lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jūratė Požėrienė in order to develop an international joint study programme of the second cycle Adapted Physical Activity. The project received funding, therefore, LSU hosted the first meeting of the universities of Nordic countries involved in Nordplus High Education project Nordic Master in Adapted Physical Activity” (NMAPA) at the end of November. The University was visited by the participants of an international project: Ditte Sörensen and Lars Kristén (Halmstad University, Sweden), Kauppinen Matti and Vilhu Jyrki (Haaga-Helia University, Finland), and Aija Klavina (Latvian Academy of Sport Education, Latvia). The lecturers of the programme Adapted Physical Activity Diana Rėklaitienė and Vida Ostasevičienė represented LSU.

 During the meeting, partners’ universities were introduced and the existing programmes in the area of adapted physical activity were analysed. It was decided to establish a joint consortium and develop a plan for international joint second cycle study programme Adapted Physical Activity in compliance with national legislation and the education system. The competencies of professionals of adapted physical activity, implementation of the study programme, academic quality and guidelines for further development by attracting other Nordic universities were discussed.
