Well-known Lithuanian Educators Enhance Unique Opportunities in Basketball Coaching Studies

There is an unabated interest in Masters Degree (MSc) in European Basketball Coaching Science that has been launched by The University of Worcester (Worcester, UK) in partnership with the Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education – LAPE (Kaunas, Lithuania).

Masters degree studies have become a long-awaited, much anticipated opportunity for the 3rd generation of graduates as well as for the experienced lecturers and renowned Lithuanian basketball coaches Šarūnas Sakalauskas and Rūtenis Paulauskas, who will accede in the nearest future.

 

“We are delighted to announce that prominent coaches and outstanding basketball specialists will be delivering lectures for the students of combined Sports Coaching Science studies.

Nonetheless important is the academic qualification degree awarded to Šarūnas Sakalauskas and Rūtenis Paulauskas, relevant to the standards of higher education and obligatory, if employed in education and skill sector. Being not only well-known basketball coaches, both specialists hold a Doctor of Science in Social Science and Science of Biomedicine correspondingly, accumulating a life-long pedagogic and scientific experience.

 

“Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education has a distinctive reputation for training basketball players and coaches with excellent fundamental skills and tactical awareness. Thus, the outstanding specialists, undoubtedly, will raise the bar in the process of teaching”, said Associate Professor Nerijus Masiulis, the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Biomedicine.

Both specialists will be providing lectures to international Master’s Degree Basketball Coaching Science students, actually, in winter.

 

„I have been nurturing my best ideas and knowledge for students of this particular study programme for two years. I have been coaching and teaching students for 15 years, I have been conducting and presenting research and, consequently, I have gained a thorough experience in the Science of Basketball Coaching.

„My second book, dedicated to the development of skilled basketball players, will see the limelight in the nearest future. I have a strong aspiration to share my knowledge with Lithuanian and foreign specialists and I contemplate the future challenge”, said Rūtenis Paulauskas.

Šarūnas Sakalauskas graduated from the former Institute of Physical Education in 1982. He is re-entering the Academy of Physical Education after 20 years.

 

“I remain convinced that LAPE has educated not only top-rank basketball coaches, but many different specialists coaching in a variety of other sports. They have been glorifying the name of Lithuania for many decades. I have a strong desire to educate young people and share my experience collectively with the most prominent specialists”, said Šarūnas Sakalauskas at his interview.

 

The Academy of Physical Education has focused a particular attention on the development of Basketball Coaching Science studies. One of the main priorities in strategic management of education is the implementation of international first degree (Bachelor’s degree) studies for Lithuanian and foreign students and second degree (Master’s degree) in joint Basketball Coaching Science studies being performed together with the University of Worcester.

 

The demand for highly skilled basketball coaches is increasing with every day and LAPE ambitions to academic excellence and internationally recognized experience in research activities can make valuable contributions to the development of worldwide specialists.

Lithuanian Basketball Federation shares the interest of LAPE on unique basketball science educational programmes. The Federation is fostering hopes for future coherent cooperation in headhunting of talented basketball coaches providing the best opportunities for them to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

 

“Many world-known and prominent coaches have graduated from the Academy: Kęstutis Kemzūra, Ramūnas Butautas, Saulius Štombergas, Kazys Maksvytis and Evaldas Kandratavičius, one of the most prominent European athletic coaches. I cherish hope to find promising students and educate world-known basketball experts”, said Associate Professor Nerijus Masiulis, the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Biomedicine.
