The LSU Community Gala Evening: the Best of the Year received awards

On December 15, The M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art hosted a gala evening of the Lithuanian Sport University (LSU) community. The community members were engaged in the Museum’s educational activities and the festive evening culminated with a cosy party.

Traditionally, the winners of the LSU Best of the Year awards were announced.

Polina Moskaliova was awarded Student of the Year for her caring and active representation of students.

The Teachers of the Year:

Kristina Mejerytė-Narkevičienė from the Department of Sport and Tourism Management for her sensitivity and continual support of students;

Kristina Poderienė from the Department of Health Promotion and Rehabilitation for her dedication to teaching and the quality of the study process;

Ilona Tilindienė from the Department of Physical and Social Education for her professionalism and positivity;

Simona Pajaujienė from Department of Exercise Science for motivational lectures and practical sessions.

Professor Arūnas Emeljanovas and Associate Professor Brigita Miežienė were elected as Researchers of the Year for their outstanding scientific publication in the prestigious British Journal of Sports Medicine (Impact Factor 18.473).

Professor Rasa Jankauskienė and Associate Professor Miglė Bacevičienė were elected as Female Researchers of the Year for their significant contribution to sports science.

The Female Athlete of the Year award was presented to Gabrielė Stonkutė, an undergraduate student in Sports Coaching Study Programme and a boxer who won both the World and European Boxing Championships this year.

The Male Athlete of the Year award was given to Eimantas Stanionis, a boxer and a Master’s student in Sports Education Study Programme. This year Eimantas won the world boxing champion belt.

The Team of the Year award went to the double scullers, twin brothers Dovydas and Domantas Stankūnai, students in Sports Coaching Study Programme.

Vidas Bružas who inspired Gabrielė Stonkutė and Eimantas Stanionis for their greatest victories was elected as the Coach of the Year.

The Studies Division became the Administrative Unit of the Year for their prompt assistance to both students and teachers, and the presentation of LSU mobile innovative sports science laboratory to the sports community and the public was elected as the Event of the Year.

The University also honoured its community members who celebrated the anniversaries of their work at LSU and the long-standing LSU sponsors.

At the end of the evening, University’s social partner UAB “Audimas brand” announced a festive surprise to the LSU students – nominal scholarships.
