Students and teachers from the LSU took part in a blended intensive programme in Haarlem

In March and April students and teachers from the Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) took part in a six-week blended intensive programme in Haarlem, The Netherlands, organised by Inholland University of Applied Sciences.

During the programme entitled The challenges of behaviour change support for people with chronic diseases”, students and teachers had an opportunity to talk about the difficulties of changing behaviour and student’s role as a future Physical activity and lifestyle professional. Speakers from different European countries gave lectures and practical sessions about such lifestyle factors as physical activity, stress reduction and nutrition. Teachers from the LSU, Professor Aivaras Ratkevičius gave a lecture on Acute adaptations of skeletal muscles to inactivity and Associate Professor Simona Pajaujiene led the Nirvanna Fitness practical session. Students worked in teams on multiple case studies and came up with an intervention plan for people with a chronic disease.

“The intensive PAL programme was simply amazing! I did not know exactly what to expect, as this was my first time participating in such a programme, but it was just phenomenal. The lectures and seminars were very informative and at the same time very fun! The professors provided us with new insights into the specific area of interest, but also managed to challenge us to think about different approaches and problems regarding the topics. As for the activities during free time… well that part, was the most enjoyable! They were organized in such a way, that you could have lots of fun and at the same time make new friendships. The whole programme was very nicely organized, and it allowed me to expand my knowledge, meet new colleagues and at the same time make memories which will stay with me forever!” – about his experience shares Master’s student Rok Pivec.
