Sports technology for the best swimmers of the USA presented in Dr. G. Sokolovas’s lecture

Dr. Genadijus Sokolovas, a graduate and former lecturer, has made a visit to LSU. He delivered a lecture on "Sports Technology for the best swimmers of the USA”. A physiologist, scientist, software developer and creator of training methodologies G. Sokolovas has lived in the United States for almost fifteen years. For about a decade he led the USA Swimming Federation Physiology and Sports Science Department; now he is engaged into his own successful business – the researcher develops unique computer programmes and databases to help identify drawbacks in swimmer techniques, physiology and other areas and creates problem-solving training methodologies. Dr. G. Sokolovas has worked with such world swimming stars as Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Natalie Coughlin and others. During the lecture, he presented sports technologies that he uses in investigating and consulting the best swimmers of the USA.

“Our equipment and various tests allow to capture, monitor and analyze swimmer mistakes. Subsequently, they are measured and a special training methodology is developed to eliminate the problems. Many of the athletes see and realise their mistakes after testing  and improve the results rather rapidly. When you know the problem, you try to look for a way to solve it; in this way, you can distribute the workload of trainings and manage the processes of training better”, said G. Sokolovas.

A company “Global Sport Technology“, that has been established by the researcher, is also developing swimmer exercisers and computer programmes for managing the training process.
