Sport science attracts froreign students

Every year, Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) welcomes students from abroad who seek knowledge in Sports Science and choose full-time Bachelor or Master’s degree studies. A lot of students come under the student exchange programme Erasmus+. Students from all over the world come to study Sport Science in Lithuania, as there are as few niche universities in the world as two hundred.

“When choosing a foreign university, I had high expectations and looked for a higher education institution, well-known for achievements in Sport Science. I was most interested in basketball specialization. LSU and Coventry University (Great Britain) were on my priority list. I chose Lithuania, as it is famous for its love for basketball and achievements in different sports. Moreover, Lithuania is not an expensive country to live and its location is just perfect, as living in the middle of Europe provides a great opportunity to travel and get to know a completely different culture”, said a student from Turkey Mustafa Sarshar.

The student does not regret having chosen Lithuanian Sports University, where he has studied Sports Coaching in the English language for half a year. He says, that the knowledge gained in Lithuania motivates his further development.

“Studies at LSU are very interesting and useful. The variety of study subjects inspires to go deep into the subtleties of Sport Science, improve and engage in research activities. This university and sports scientists working here helped me decide to pursue postgraduate studies and become a basketball coach”, said Mustafa Sarshar.

When asked about the competencies necessary for a health and fitness specialist, seeking professional heights, M. Sarchar said, that a person has to love sport. “If you are active, you like sports and have a lot of knowledge, you will always be necessary, and a variety of possibilities will open. You must continuously improve and apply theoretical knowledge in practice. You just need to believe in what you are doing, and enjoy your activity”, said M. Sarshar.

Most of the time, the student spends studying and welcomes the possibilities offered by the international programmes. “Erasmus+ mobility programme enables students to accumulate the latest knowledge in other universities, to share ideas, get to know people from different cultures, their customs and traditions. Foreign students not only learn, but also share their knowledge and their experiences. I also presented the culture of my country as well as our achievements in Sport Science to LSU students and teachers”, said M. Sarshar.

Lithuanian Sports University cooperates with 84 universities in Europe and other continents, higher education institutions in England, the United States, Israel, China and Kazakhstan to be mentioned among many others.
