Physical activity and healthy lifestyle students received visitors from Portugal

Dr. Susana Alves and Professor João Moutão from Rio Maior Sport Institute (Portugal) – teachers of international study programme Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyle (PAL) – visited Lithuanian Sport University. The teachers held practical and theoretical lectures to LSU PAL first-year and second-year students, met with the teachers teaching in this study programme and shared their experience about the delivery of PAL study programme in Portugal.

 

Students were especially interested in the teacher’s Dr. Susana Alves practical and theoretical lectures about body language and non-verbal communication. The teacher explained the notion and importance of non-verbal communication in the work with people.

“In the practical session with LSU students we practiced using body language in exercises, tried to understand that communication is possible not only by means of words but also by means of body movements. The study programme Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyle is very successful and among the most popular programmes at our University in Portugal. Students rate this programme highly and see many professional opportunities after graduation. More and more young people choose these studies in response to the critical problem of sedentary life in Portugal. The study and work hard in order to have 95 per cent of Portuguese people change their attitude towards sport and physical activity; students assess their perspectives and strive for professional development “, said teacher S. Alves.

Professor João Moutão introduced Rio Maior Sport Institute to LSU PAL students and the possibilities to study there under Erasmus exchange programme.

“At present five LSU students study in our school under the exchange programme. All five are students of Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyle study programme. They are excellent students: they always complete their tasks in time, are interested in additional aspects of this study programme, deepen their knowledge and actively participate in lectures and university life. Teachers have noticed that it is LSU students who strive for the best results and become the best specialists. They are part of our university family. Everybody knows them and helps if any problems in a foreign country arises”, told the teacher from  Portugal.
