Dangiras Marcinkus, a third-year student of LSU Physical Activity and Lifestyle study programme, has recently achieved his goal of participating in a three-week international intensive programme Best Practice in Childhood Physical Activity and Health after having won an internship at the University of Southern Denmark under the NordPlus-Idrott 2019-2020 programme. Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, the study programme was carried out remotely on May 11-29.
“I was in two minds about joining the online course, but it turned out to be worth doing this. The lectures took place every day except weekends, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lithuanian time. The course was quite intense, and all the information provided was academic and scientific. What I enjoyed most was the discussions with the other participants, small interim reports, development of the intervention and application of different methods, all of which encourage mutual cooperation and communication, creativity and develop common understanding. Turns out it was a European Master’s course that I took and passed the exam of. I felt really elated and excited! I still have to write the final work – an essay, which I have to submit by June 29 to receive 15 ECTS for this chosen study module,” said Dangiras.
“A total of 26 students participated in the training. In addition to Danish nationals, 11 students were from foreign countries: most of them from Italy, as this course is an integral part of the joint Master’s degree in European Master of Physical Activity and Health, as well as from Norway, Germany and Lithuania,” said the coordinator of the programme Prof. Karsten Froberg (Centre of Research in Childhood Health, the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics of the University of Southern Denmark).
