Nominal Scholarship of President Kazys Grinius awarded to LSU student

Every year, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport awards the scholarships of the Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania Antanas Smetona, Aleksandras Stulginskis, Kazys Grinius, Jonas Žemaitis and Algirdas Brazauskas to the best students of the country. Audrius Knašas, a fourth-year student of the Coaching Science study programme at Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) was the one to be awarded the scholarship of President Kazys Grinius (the fields of life sciences, health sciences, veterinary sciences, agricultural sciences and sports).

Future coach A. Knašas manages to combine studies at the University and a successful career of a beach volleyball player. Last year, Audrius and his teammate Patrikas Stankevičius won bronze in the European Student Beach Volleyball Championship.

Annual Presidential Scholarships are awarded for outstanding academic achievements and active scientific and social activities. Candidates for scholarships are selected based on learning outcomes, academic, scientific, artistic and sporting activities, as well as participation in competitions, expeditions, scientific projects, published research papers, etc. The Ministry of Education and Science established the Presidential Scholarships in 1995 in order to honour the Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania and to encourage the best Lithuanian students.
