LSU lecturers appreciated in a congress in Spain

Scientists and researchers from more than 30 countries participated in “European Congress of Adapted Physical Activity 2014”, which took place in Madrid, Spain. 235 oral and poster presentations were delivered on the following topics: adapted physical activity as a means of inclusion, aspects of integrated physical education, parasports (organization and sports of high achievements), the importance of health and rehabilitation measures for self-sufficiency and social activity of persons with disabilities. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jūratė Požėrienė, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diana Rėklaitienė and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vida Ostasevičienė (LSU, Department of Applied Biology and Rehabilitation) took part in the Congress and presented the recent research, sponsored by the Research Council of Lithuania. The assistant professors also actively participated in public discussions of the symposium. The scientific report “Children‘s with Learning Disabilities, their Parents‘ and Teachers‘ Attitude towards Behavioural and Emotional Problems in Integrated Physical Education“ (J. Požėrienė, D. Rėklaitienė, V. Ostasevičienė, A.Gaižauskienė, G. Rastauskienė) was recognized as the best and awarded a diploma.

The Congress focused on the familiarization with the National Adapted Physical Activity organizations and their activities. Jūratė Požėrienė was invited to a public debate of the symposium, where she introduced Lithuanian Sports University, the study programme in Adapted Physical Activity and the proceedings of the Association in Adapted Physical Activity. It was a good opportunity to establish new co-operation contacts and meet with the existing partners, present our research and a joint study programme of LSU and the Lithuanian State Department of Tourism to the experts from Europe, Africa, Australia, South and North America.
