LSU International Week focused on a healthy lifestyle

 

 On 3-7 April, Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) hosted the 3rd International Week “Innovations for a Healthy Lifestyle”.  During the week, the University welcomed 15 teachers from UK, Israel, Japan, Poland, the Netherlands and Portugal who delivered lectures, led practical sessions and group work. This event brought together the LSU international partners with whom the University has been cooperating for almost 20 years as well as the new partners – the Academic College at Wingate (Israel) and the Nippon Sport Science University (Japan). In addition to the teaching staff, the International Week was attended by over 20 students from Groningen Hanze University of Applied Sciences and Inholland University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands) – the LSU partners in the implementation of the international study programme European Bachelor in Physical Activity and Lifestyle (PAL). During the International Week, a meeting of the Consortium Board of the PAL study programme took place to elect the new Board management and to discuss further developments of the joint study programme.

   The LSU new partner, Nippon Sport Science University (Japan), was represented by Professor Koichi Nakazato who gave a lecture on “Resistance Training, Protein Metabolism, Muscle Hypertrophy”, and Professor Araki Tatsuo who invited to join a practical gymnastics session "Enjoy Gymnastics!". On 5 April, the Ambassador of Japan Mr. Toyoei Shigeeda visited the LSU to meet with the teaching staff members of Nippon Sport Science University and the LSU authorities. At the end of 2016, LSU had had an honour to receive the Ambassador, who had paid a visit to Dr. Aivaras Ratkevičius to discuss opportunities for cooperation between LSU and Japanese universities.

   During the International Week, lecturers from foreign countries delivered more than 30 lectures and practical sessions to the local and international students. The participants of the International Week also had an opportunity to take part in sports activities and interesting social events.
