Lithuanian students are glad about the opportunities offered by an international study programme IMPAS

In autumn Lithuanian Sports University will open up new opportunities for students from around the world to study in the international Master's degree programme International Master of Performance Analysis of Sport (IMPAS). This programme is unique, as students will deepen their knowledge at three universities: Otto-von-Guericke University (Germany), University of Trás-os- Montes and Alto Douro (Portugal), and Lithuanian Sports University (LSU).

Students who enter IMPAS study programme at Lithuanian Sports University will study according to a special programme. They will spend the first semester at Otto-von-Guericke University (Germany), the second semester at University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (Portugal), and they will write their final degree project at Lithuanian Sports University during the third and the fourth semesters. Upon successful completion of studies and final thesis defence students will be conferred a degree of Master of Sport.

Three LSU students Tautvydas, Mantas and Laimontas, who have spent this semester in Portugal under the Erasmus+ programme and familiarized with IMPAS study programme, agreed to share their impressions.

The students are now living in the Portuguese town of Vila Real and studying at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, which welcomes nearly seven thousand students from all over the world every year. According to the students, this university is perfectly prepared to accept international students and offers the highest level of education.

“The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro has excellent sports facilities. Laboratories offer the equipment of brands famous in the world of athletic training. We had a chance to access and practice it, as well as work with it in the course of studies. Most importantly, all innovations are freely available to students”, said one of LSU students.

According to the students, there was a lot of individual work at the university, so lectures were held only on Fridays throughout the whole semester. Therefore, students spent the entire day here on Fridays.

“Every Friday we met with lecturers of different areas. We attended the lectures delivered by athletic training specialists, programmers, football experts and, of course, performance analysts of sport. We worked individually on the other days of the week. We had two tasks for the semester: to carry out an analysis of sport performance and organize a seminar with our own report presentation”, shared his experience Laimontas.

According to Lithuanian students studying at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, IMPAS student group has a separate classroom where students can study individually throughout the day. Every week meetings and consultations with the coordinating lecturer take place there.

Laimontas told that students, who are capable of good planning, manage to entertain themselves and have a quality leisure time. International student organizations of the university invite students to participate in various cultural and sporting events and competitions or to choose sightseeing trips around the neighbourhood.
