European health standards and EREPS have already reached Lithuania

Leaders of the European health sector gathered in Cologne (Germany), where “EuropeActive” Standards Council meetings as well as European Health and Fitness Forum were held. An International Fair for Fitness, Wellness and Health “FIBO 2015“ took place.

Trust Agreement between “EuropeActive“ and Association of Lithuanian Health Clubs on the establishment of EREPS registry and the recognition of the European standards in Lithuania was signed at the European Health and Fitness Forum. LSU lecturer, member of “EuropeActive” Standards Council Dr. Simona Pajaujienė and the head of the network of health clubs “Impuls” Vidmantas Šiugždinis attended the signing ceremony.

“This is a huge achievement and international recognition of Lithuanian health sector. We have been taking steps in this direction since 2000. We are among the first in the Baltic countries, as our neighbours Latvia, Estonia and Poland have not gained such recognition yet. This has been determined by the emergence of modern health centres in Lithuania, increase in the professionalism of coaches working in them, and quality improvement of sports studies and informal training programmes-qualification courses. A very important point has been the health sector employers' agreement, which brought together modern, innovative and European-minded managers of clubs in the association”, said Dr. S. Pajaujienė.

EREPS (European Register of Exercise Professionals) is an independent process for the registering of all instructors, trainers and teachers working across Europe in the exercise and fitness industry. This is a common European system of independent national registers merged into one European database. The Register is closely related to the "EuropeActive" Standards Council; one of its missions is to develop, promote and implement the standards of exercise professionals of various qualification levels and specializations, in force in the whole of Europe.
