On May 5–9, 2025 the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Integrating Sport Games into Training (ISGiT)” took place at the Lithuanian University of Sport (LSU), bringing together students and lecturers from Italy, Spain, Poland and Lithuania.
Before coming to Kaunas, the participants attended five online teaching sessions delivered by teachers from different partner universities. These online classes helped students to prepare for the intensive week in Kaunas.
At the Lithuanian University of Sport, the participants expanded their knowledge through theoretical lectures, took part in practical sessions, worked on creating game activities, presented group projects and worked together in international teams. The programme was packed with sports challenges, creative game development activities and follow-up discussions after each exercise.
Lithuanian University of Sport was represented in the programme by teacher Rita Gruodytė-Račienė, Gediminas Mamkus, Renata Rutkauskaitė, Marco Pernigoni and Francesco Coletta. The guest lecturer, President of the Republican Association of Preschool Physical Education Teachers Audronė Vizbarienė also shared her innovative practical knowledge with the students.
In addition to academic activities, the participants had an opportunity to explore Lithuanian culture and the world of sport. They visited Žalgiris Arena, where they watched the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) game, had a tour to Trakai, where they hiked along the Varnikai nature trail, tasted traditional local pasties Kibinai, and spent the afternoon at the Capitals Golf Club, where they learned to play golf with the assistance of golf coaches, LSU alumni Tomas Pranevičius and Donatas Gurnys.
This international week not only broadened the participants’ theoretical and practical knowledge on the integration of sports games in the training process, but also strengthened the students’ teamwork, communication and creative problem-solving skills. Students had the opportunity to work in international teams, to exchange ideas and good practices, while teachers had the opportunity to build professional connections and discuss innovative teaching methods. Such projects strengthen the European higher education community, foster intercultural dialogue and provide a valuable experience for both students and academics.
The Erasmus+ BIP is coordinated by the Lithuanian Sports University in partnership with the University of Rome “Foro Italico” (Italy), the Technical University of Madrid (Spain), the University of Valencia (Spain) and Józef Pilsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw (Poland).
The next edition of the Erasmus+ BIP “Integrating Sport Games into Training – ISGiT” is planned to take place in the spring semester 2025–2026.
