LSU 6th International Week hosts a great number of foreign guests

On 24-28 April, 2023 the Lithuanian Sport University organised the 6th International Week. Through this traditional academic event the LSU seeks to develop and strengthen its international dimension by inviting teachers, researchers and practitioners from foreign partner institutions to share their knowledge, experience and expertise with the students.

The main theme of this year’s International Week is harmonization of research and studies in sport and health sciences. A great number of guests from partner institutions abroad have attended the event, representing such countries as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Georgia, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, the UK and the USA.

The 6th International Week was marked by a wide range of events. The teaching programme of the guest teachers included 44 lectures, workshops and practical sessions. At the International Partners Fair, students learned first-hand from the representatives of foreign institutions about exchange opportunities, while teachers and researchers had an opportunity to discuss ideas for cooperation and potential projects. During the workshops, the participants discussed what kind of challenges the higher education institutions face in academic mobility and cooperation in today’s context and shared their experiences on how to stimulate a culture of internationalism in their local academic community.

After the International Week, the participants shared their warm reflections about the event:

“Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your international program, and to be part of wonderful people that attended the event. I do hope for professional collaboration in the coming future” – Dr. Sima Zach, the Levinsky-Wingate Academic College, Israel.

“Thanks for the wonderful week we spent with you all. I am sure this is just the beginning of an ongoing partnership with everyone who were part of this experience!” – Dr. Jorge Lopez Fernandez, European University of Madrid, Spain.

“Thank you so much for hosting such an enjoyable and educational week. It was wonderful to be with you all and to learn more about both Lithuania and the city of Kaunas. I would love to stay in touch and to visit again. It was brilliant to meet your students and staff, particularly the ones on the basketball program as there is so much to discuss and that I can learn from you all. It would be fantastic to work together going forward. What a fantastic thing Erasmus is” – Dr. Tilly Spurr, University of Chichester, the United Kingdom.
