LSU continues cooperation with Japan in the field of basketball

Lithuanian Sports University continues its close cooperation with Japan. The University hosted the Japanese Ambassador to Lithuania H.E. Mr. Tetsu Ozaki, Member of the Board of Directors of Japan Basketball Association and professor of Edogawa University Dr. Shiho Moriya, and the Embassy’s representative Mr. Taro Hirokawa. The visit was to aimed to learn about the system of basketball coach training in Lithuania and to discuss possibilities of cooperation in this field.

The Japanese guests met with the LSU Rector Prof. Dr. Diana Rėklaitiene, the Chair of the LSU Basketball Science and Studies Centre Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramūnas Butautas, basketball coaches and teachers Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rasa Kreivyte and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kęstutis Matulaitis, and the representatives of the International Relations and other departments. During the meeting, the guests showed great interest in training of basketball coaches at LSU, what kind of practical training is provided for the students and what professional career opportunities are open to the graduates of this study programme. The meeting was also focused to discuss the possibilities of cooperation, academic exchange and implementation of joint projects.

The guests from Japan also got acquainted with the LSU laboratories and ongoing research, visited BC Žalgiris Basketball Academy, Žalgiris Arena, met with the representatives of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and attended the LKL game.
