Implementation of an innovative “ESA” sports program has been discussed in Portugal

The second co-ordination meeting of “Enriched Sport Activities Program” financed by “Erasmus+” took place in the Sport Sciences School of Rio Maior, Portugal. Dr. Simona Pajaujienė (Department of Coaching Science) and Tomas Kukenys (International Relations Office) represented LSU at the event.

Since January 2017, the project has been implemented by nine institutions from seven different countries: Palermo University Sport Centre (Project Coordinator) and the University of Palermo (Italy), Lithuanian Sports University (Lithuania), University of Murcia (Spain), University of Split (Croatia), Sport Sciences School of Rio Maior, Association for Education and Valorisation of Aveiro Region (Portugal), Technical University of Munich (Germany) and Ankara University (Turkey).

The institutions involved in the programme are creating a sports programme for children and teenagers “Enriched Sport Activities”, which aims to develop children's motor skills and improve their cognitive and social skills as well as motivate through various innovative sporting activities. During the meeting, the guidelines for the implementation of the sport program and the progress in each country were discussed, depending on the chosen sport or target group of children. For several months, the partners analysed scientific articles and selected the most trusted and most suitable physical fitness and psychological-cognitive tests for children. The intervention program starts in one of the selected schools in 2018.
